Desk / Hall Table
Made entirely from reclaimed materials. The size and shape work well as a desk or as a hall table. Inset dovetail or butterfly keys in the top look nice but also serve the purpose of stabilizing a natural crack in the spalted maple slab. The legs and drawer casing have a dovetail shaped detail cut into the sides. The drawer's constructed using sliding dovetail joinery. I also made a dovetail shaped pencil holder which fits just inside the drawer. The spalted maple top comes from a tree cut down for other purposes. The red oak legs are made from reclaimed barn timber, as is the drawer body. The drawer bottom was cut from reclaimed solid oak flooring. Also, the ball bearing drawer glides were harvested from a thrift shop find.
